About the event

This multimedia presentation will consider the intense settlement of many areas of the North End by Eastern European Jews during the second half of the nineteenth century and first decade or so of the twentieth century. The emphasis will be on the structural testimonies of this era still visible in the neighborhood of today and other types of documentation that can help us to better understand the lives and community needs of the North End's "Jewish Pioneers."

Jessica Dello Russo, Ph.D., is the author and editor of numerous studies about the archaeology of Jews in Italy during the Roman era. She is on the board of the North End Historical Society (NEHS) and frequently leads walking tours of Boston neighborhoods and historic homes, monuments, and institutions.

This live event is free and open to the public.
